About the Installer Inventory

The Oracle Universal Installer inventory is the location for the Oracle Universal Installer’s bookkeeping.

By default, the Universal Installer inventory is located in a series of directories and XML files at /Program Files/Oracle/Inventory on Windows computers and in the <Oracle Home>/Inventory directory on UNIX computers.

To find out exactly where the inventory is located on your system, you can do the following:

• On Windows computers, check the Windows registry. The inventory location is written into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE/inst_loc in the Windows registry.

• On UNIX systems, the location of the inventory is stored in the file /var/opt/oracle/oraInst.loc.
